3D Concept Art
This course is an introduction to digital painting, character design, sequential arts, and color composition for illustration, film, and animation. It covers the study of illustration as visual interpretation and helps students develop strategies for communicating content through pictorial narrative. Students will also learn basic software skills to develop digital drawing abilities. Animation is a course designed to introduce students to the concept of animation and mimicking life movement in art.
Intro to Blender for Concept Art
3D Concept Art I: Intro to Blender for Concept Art
Intro to Blender for Concept Art takes students step-by-step on how to get started in Blender, Students will learn the powerful techniques and tools within Blender to further enhance their 2D art, whether it is illustration or concept art. By the end of the term, students will have a finished prop or scene using the tools they’ve learned.
Prerequisites: Fundamentals in Character Design (Digital Illustration 1), Fundamentals in Scene Design (Digital Illustration 2)

Intermediate Blender for Concept Art
3D Concept Arts II: Intermediate Blender for Concept Art
Intermediate Blender for Concept Art will focus on advanced modifiers, texturing, and shaders within Blender. Students will work with complex scenes and focus more on their projects using tools such as Deform, Displace, Quixel, as well as learn about particle systems, weight painting, creating and rendering realistic lighting, and making their own kit and kitbashing. By the end of the term, students will have finished an environment concept or keyframe using the aforementioned tools.

Advanced Blender for Concept Art
3D Concept Arts III: Advanced Blender for Concept Art
Advanced Blender for Concept Art will focus on individual projects and design principles. Students will use blender to problem solve and design the environment and set dressings that make up the environment concept. Students will be expected to have a finished set dressing and environment concepts .
Prerequisite: Intermediate Blender for Concept Art

Environment Design for Concept Art
3D Concept Arts IV: Environment Design for Concept Art
Environment Design for Concept Art will guide students through environment creation for concept art and illustration. Students will learn the industry standard workflow to create compelling designs and concepts by thumbnailing ideas, learning how to incorporate photos, matching light and shadow, adding VFX elements, and learning composition, color, and lighting. By the end of the term, students will have a finished environment concept.
